  1. 1. Lighting Control Systems for Energy Saving and User Acceptance: State-of-the-art and future directions

    Författare :Niko Gentile; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Indoor lighting; lighting control system; lighting control; energy saving; energy efficiency; user acceptance; human factor; occupancy strategies; absence sensor; presence sensor; lighting switch; manual switch; daylight harvesting system; daylight-linked system; photoelectric dimming; photosensor.;

    Sammanfattning : Lighting accounts for one-fifth of global electricity use. In Sweden, energy demand for lighting corresponds to 20% of the total electricity use in office buildings. Lighting retrofit measures are considered to be among the most cost-efficient way to reduce energy use in buildings. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Iterative Road Grade Estimation for Heavy Duty Vehicle Control

    Författare :Per Sahlholm; Karl Henrik Johansson; Jonas Sjöberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; road grade; estimation; heavy duty vehicle; Kalman filter; automatic control; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a new method for iterative road grade estimation based on sensors that are commonplace in modern heavy duty vehicles. Estimates from multiple passes of the same road segment are merged together to form a road grade map, that is improved each time the vehicle revisits an already traveled route. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Lighting Control Systems to Save Energy in the non-Residential Sector : State-of-the-art, Field Studies, and Simulations

    Författare :Niko Gentile; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Indoor lighting; lighting control system; lighting control; energy sav; energy eff; user acceptan; degree of acceptance; human factor; occupancy strategy; presence strategy; absence strategy; daylight harvesting; daylight-linked; daylight; photoelectric dimming; photosensor; manual switch; functional illumination; standby;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the energy-saving potential for lighting when using traditional indoor LCSs in non-residential buildings. In the study, an overarching theoretical framework is used that distinguishes between energy efficiency and energy saving, as well as between energy use for lighting and functional illumination. 4. 4. Do lighting control and user interface design matter to occupant behaviour? The case of optimal lighting use in non-residential buildings

    Författare :Pimkamol Mattsson; Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; characteristic; design; energy reduction; energy-saving behaviour; lighting control; light switch; lighting use; non-residential building; perception; user interface;

    Sammanfattning : The lowering of energy use from artificial lighting in buildings is vital to reaching the goal of reducing CO2 emissions. Hence, changes in individuals’ behaviours regarding lighting use have received increased attention. Feedback on energy use has often been used to change individuals’ behaviour. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Distributed Road Grade Estimation for Heavy Duty Vehicles

    Författare :Per Sahlholm; Karl Henrik Johansson; Emilio Frazzoli; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automotive; estimation; distributed systems; automatic control; heavy duty vehicles; road grade; road maps; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Sammanfattning : An increasing need for goods and passenger transportation drives continued worldwide growth in traffic. As traffic increases environmental concerns, traffic safety, and cost efficiency become ever more important. Advancements in microelectronics open the possibility to address these issues through new advanced driver assistance systems. LÄS MER
