1. Numerical optimization of hull/propeller/rudder configurations
Sammanfattning : The new framework of the global economy has stimulated and expanded the shipbuilding and shipping industry, especially in Asia in the twenty-first century. This induces urgent and high requirements on designing and building both conventional and new types of ships with high performance, such as high speed, manoeuvrability, seaworthiness and so on. 2. Development of Vortex Filament Method for Aerodynamic Loads on Rotor Blades
Sammanfattning : Wind power is currently one of the most reliable new energy sources serving as an alternative tofossil fuel generated electricity and is known as a widely distributed clean and renewable sourceof energy. It is now the world’s fastest growing energy source and has also become one of themost rapidly expanding industries. LÄS MER
3. Potential Flow Panel Methods for the Calculation of Free-surface Flows with Lift
Sammanfattning : Two non-linear Rankine-source panel methods are developed and implemented in the same computer code. The first method uses a four-point upwind operator on the free-surface to compute the velocity derivatives and to enforce the radiation condition while the second method uses an analytical expression for the velocity derivatives and a collocation point shift one panel upstream to prevent upstream waves. 4. Laser welding and cladding : the effects of defects on fatigue behaviour
Sammanfattning : The thesis focuses on weld defects in laser processed materials (for laser welding, laser hybrid arc welding and laser cladding) and their effect on the fatigue life of components. Component properties were studied with particular emphasis on the macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and clad defects. LÄS MER
5. Modelling nutrient transport from forest ecosystems to surface waters : The model ForSAFE-2D
Sammanfattning : Forests provide multiple products and services which are all are linked to water resources. Trees need water to grow and, at the same time, they change the quality and the quantity of runoff by modifying water and nutrient cycling. LÄS MER
