6. Gait strategy in myelomeningocele : movements, mechanics and methods
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the movement patterns employed in self-ambulatory children with a range of muscle paresis due to nervous tissue damage resulting from myelomeningocele, a common congenital malformation of the spinal column resulting in sensory and motor paresis. Using 3D movement analysis, the upper and lower body kinematics, movement of the center of mass, and joint moments, powers, and work done during gait in 32 children with lumbo-sacral myelomeningocele were analyzed and divided into 5 groups based on the severity of paresis. 7. Knee joint kinematics and the effects of arthropasty component design
Sammanfattning : Aims: To evaluate the influence of medial osteoarthritis on knee joint kinematics and the effect of design in total knee replacements (TKR) on the kinematics of trunk, hip, knee and ankle. Associations between articulating surface design, clinical outcome and fixation of the tibial component were also evaluated. LÄS MER
8. Pedestrian Shoulder and Spine Kinematics and their Influence on Head Kinematics
Sammanfattning : Pedestrian to vehicle crashes still represent a major health issue worldwide. In order to prevent fatalities and injuries during the in-crash phase of a pedestrian accident, a sound understanding of pedestrian in-crash kinematics is required and Human Body Models (HBMs) are valuable tools when studying such kinematics. 9. Neuronal mechanisms of feedback postural control
Sammanfattning : Different species maintain a basic body posture due to the activity of the postural control system. An efficient control of the body orientation, as well as the body configuration, is important for standing and during locomotion. LÄS MER
10. EMG and strength in trunk and hip muscles
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the myouelectric activity of all major muscles involved in the movements and stabilization of the trunk, pelvis and hips during training exercises, postures, motor tasks, maximal strength performance and locomotion. By use of ultra-sound, EMG electrodes could be guided safely and accurately into muscles situated even close to the spinal column, such as psoas, quadratus lumborum and deep parts of erector spinae.
