  1. 1. Fragmented landscapes : Assessment and communication of landscape connectivity in human-dominated landscapes

    Författare :Arvid Bergsten; Örjan Bodin; Bo Ebenman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fragmentation; Connectivity; Network; Spatial; Landscape; Dispersal; Planning; Social-Ecological; Scale; IIC; STS; naturresurshushållning; Natural Resources Management;

    Sammanfattning : This licentiate thesis summarizes the first half of my PhD on the theme of management of fragmented landscapes. The thesis applies – and reflects on the use of – network analysis of connectivity in relation to landscape planning. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Semi-natural grasslands: landscape, history and plant species diversity

    Författare :Lotten Jönsson; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerial photographs; Land-use history; cadastral maps; habitat continuity; fragmentation; landscape context; habitat connectivity;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the impact of past and present landscape and habitat structure on present levels of vascular plant species diversity within fragmented semi-natural grasslands. Within the Jordtorp-area, a mosaic agricultural landscape on the island of Öland (Sweden), historical land-use changes and the development of semi-natural grasslands was characterized, over a time-period of almost 300 years, using historical maps, aerial photographs and a high-resolution imagery. 3. 3. Land Use Change in Space and Time : implications for plant species conservation in semi-natural grasslands

    Författare :Regina Lindborg; Ove Eriksson; Johan Ehrlén; Thomas Elmqvist; Markus Fischer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diversity; management; restoration; landscape; history; Population viability analysis; seed-sowing; Primula farinosa; Campanula rotundifolia; grazing; fragmentation; extinction risk; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Land use change has during the last century altered the traditional rural landscape in Sweden, resulting in a major decline in species diversity. Traditional small-scale farming, with a remarkably high small-scale species richness, has changed in favour of rationalized agriculture, and many semi-natural grasslands, i.e. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Planning for an urban recreational landscape : tracing geographies of outdoor recreation in the compact city

    Författare :Amalia Engström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Outdoor recreational activities, at recreational facilities, in nature and urban green areas, are proven to benefit both the mental and physical health of urban residents. However, in the contemporary urban planning paradigm, where compact cities are forefront, planning for outdoor recreational amenities is increasingly in conflict with such compact ideals. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The long-term decline of the grey-sided vole (Clethrionomys rufocanus) in boreal Sweden: importance of focal forest patch and matrix

    Författare :Pernilla Christensen; Birger Hörnfeldt; Rolf A. Ims; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; : Destructive sampling; high quality habitat; focal habitat; landscape; habitat fragmentation; threshold; clear-cut; patch size and quality; long-term time-series; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : There has been a long-term decline in number of cyclic vole populations in boreal Sweden since the 1970s. Several hypotheses have been suggested to explain this decline. Commonly for C. glareolus, C. LÄS MER
