1. Cellobiose dehydrogenase on electrodes - an electrochemical biosensor for various analytes tunable by positive charges
Sammanfattning : Cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) is a sugar oxidizing enzyme secreted by various species of wood degrading fungi to assist the process of wood degradation. It can oxidise analytically relevant sugars as cellobiose, lactose or glucose leading to a gain of two electrons per sugar molecule. LÄS MER
2. Functionality of Spray-Dried Whey Protein Powders - Surface Composition, Particle Morphology and Rehydration
Sammanfattning : Whey protein powder functionality is expected to be closely linked to both structure and properties of the proteins. It is essential that whey protein powders are easily dispersed and dissolved in order to fulfil the specified nutrient content and the functionality in the final product. LÄS MER
3. Beta-Glycosidases from Hyperthermophiles as Biocatalysts
Sammanfattning : The thesis concerns glycosyl transfer with use of b-glycosidases, most of them from hyperthermophilic organisms. Both optimisation of the reaction conditions and protein engineering in terms of site-directed mutagenesis were used to improve b-glycosidase-catalysed reactions. LÄS MER
4. Phase Transformations in Solid Pharmaceutical Materials Studied by AFM, ESCA, DSC and SAXS
Sammanfattning : Mixing excipients is a common way to produce pharmaceutical materials with suitable properties for drug formulation. An understanding of the basic mechanisms involved in the formation and transformation of the structures of solid state mixtures is crucial if one is to be able to produce materials with the desired properties in a reliable way. 5. Functional aspects of cellobiose dehydrogenase Applications for biosensor development
Sammanfattning : Electrochemcial investigations were conducted for elucidating and understanding the relation between the various electron transfer processes occurring in cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) bound to an electrode surface. Substrate inhibition caused by cellobiose was proven to act in competition with the electron transfer to a two-electron acceptor and under a partial inhibition mechanism for the internal electron transfer process.
