1. On the influence of Si on anodising and mechanical properties of cast aluminium alloys
Sammanfattning : The combination of two cost-effective processes, i.e. casting and anodising, would be an interest for the aluminium component applications. However, there are some obstacles in the application of anodising on cast Al alloys. LÄS MER
2. Hydrophobic and superhydrophobic coatings for corrosion protection of steel
Sammanfattning : Since metals in general, and steels in particular, are vital construction materials in our modern society, the corrosion protection of said materials is of great importance, both to ensure safety and to reduce costs associated to corrosion. Previously, chromium (VI) and other harmful substances were effectively used to provide corrosion protection to steel, but since their use was heavily regulated around year 2000, no coating has yet been developed that, in a fully satisfactory manner, replaces their corrosion protective properties. 3. Corrosion protection and nanomechanical properties of waterborne acrylate-based coating with and without nanocellulose on carbon steel
Sammanfattning : Corrosion protection is commonly achieved by applying a thin polymer coating on metal surfaces. In this doctoral thesis, a waterborne hydroxyacrylate-melamine copolymer coating was used for this purpose. The first step was to find the optimal curing conditions. LÄS MER
4. Casting and anodising of Al alloys- Alloy design, manufacturing process and material properties
Sammanfattning : Casting and semi-solid metal (SSM) casting are widely used to manufacture near-net-shape components of Al-Si alloys in the automotive and electronic industries. In such applications, casting components need to meet the combined requirements of good mechanical properties and corrosion and wear resistance. LÄS MER
5. Micro-galvanic effects and corrosion inhibition of copper-zinc alloys
Sammanfattning : With the advancement and accessibility of local probing techniques that can operate at the submicron scale it has become possible to analyse the local corrosion properties of industrially important metallic materials and relate these properties to microstructure characteristics of the same materials. In this doctoral study the focus has been on copper-zinc samples, both as industrial brass alloys and as micro-patterned copper-zinc samples. LÄS MER
