  1. 1. Provenance, transport, and the fate of organic matter and sediments drained through Himalayan Rivers in Nepal

    Författare :Rajendra Bhandari; Joyanto Routh; Subodh Sharma; Åsa Danielsson; Rajendra Joshi; Mead Allison; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Himalayan rivers; Biomarkers; Isotopes; OC flux; RUSLE; Himalayafloder; biomarkörer; isotoper; OC flux; RUSLE;

    Sammanfattning : Despite its small area (ca. 595,000 km2), the Himalayan region transfers disproportionally high amounts of sediments and organic matter (OM) through a network of rivers into the oceanic sink. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis diet and health of people who lived in southern Sweden 2300-1100 BCE is studied. The study is based on bioarchaeological analyses of human remains from 46 localities in the areas of Uppland, Närke, Östergötland, Västergötland, and Scania. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Paleoglaciology of Shaluli Shan, southeastern Tibetan Plateau

    Författare :Ping Fu; Arjen Stroeven; Lewis Owen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Paleoglaciology; Tibetan Plateau; geomorphological mapping; cosmogenic nuclide; Last Glacial Maximum; glacial erosion; basal thermal regime; paleoglaciologi; Tibetanska platån; geomorfologisk kartering; kosmogena isotoper; senaste glaciala maximat; glacial erosion; subglacial temperatur; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Reconstructing the paleoglaciation of the Tibetan Plateau is critical to understanding linkages between regional climate changes and global climate changes. This work focuses on the paleoglaciology of the Shaluli Shan Mountain area in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Nitrate stable isotopes and major ions in snow and ice from Svalbard

    Författare :Carmen Paulina Vega Riquelme; V. A. Pohjola; R. Pettersson; E. Isaksson; C. E. Bøggild; Kumiko Goto-Azuma; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :nitrate stable isotopes; nitrate; NOx proxies; ice cores; percolation; ion relocation; Svalbard; stabila isotoper av nitrat; nitrat; indikator för kväveoxider; iskärnor; perkolation; joniska omlokalisering; Svalbard; Earth Science with specialization in Physical Geography; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing atmospheric reactive nitrogen (Nr), as consequence of human activities, has generated accumulation of nitrate (NO3-) in Arctic regions. The Arctic has fragile nitrogen limited ecosystems that can be altered by increases of dry or wet deposition of Nr. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Glacial history of Northeast Greenland: cosmogenic nuclide constraints on chronology and ice dynamics

    Författare :Lena Håkanson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Jameson Land; Store Koldewey; Scoresby Sund; Ice dynamics; Glacial history; Cosmogenic; Greenland Ice Sheet;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to use cosmogenic exposure dating to investigating whether highly weathered landscapes in the Northeast Greenland fjord zone have developed during prolonged ice free conditions or have been preserved beneath cold-based ice. Previous work along the Northeast Greenland coast has presented two conflicting hypotheses for the extent of the Greenland Ice Sheet during the last glacial maximum (LGM). LÄS MER
