1. Ion Tracks for Micro- and Nanofabrication : From Single Channels to Superhydrophobic Surfaces
Sammanfattning : A method is described for preset-count irradiations between 1 and 100 ions singling-out individual ions from an ion beam with more than a billion ions arriving per second. The ion tracks are etched in a conductometric system with real-time evaluation of the acquired data. The etch process can be interrupted when reaching a preset channel diameter. LÄS MER
2. Heterogeneous Technologies for Microfluidic Systems
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, conventional and unconventional technologies have been studied and combined in order to make heterogeneous microfluidics with potential advantages, especially in biological applications. Many conventional materials, like silicon, glass, thermoplastic polymers, polyimide and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) have been combined in building heterogeneous microfluidic devices or demonstrators. 3. Multimodal applications in medical technology that utilize Raman spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Biology can often be explained by structures and interactions between molecules. It is therefore of importance for medical sciences that the chemical reactions and molecular compositions of biological samples can be measured. The purpose of this thesis is twofold. LÄS MER
4. High aspect ratio microsystem fabrication by ion track lithography
Sammanfattning : The microsystem processing of today is based on an assortment of diverse and contrasting fabrication techniques, sprung from the microelectronic industry. Microsystem technology has primarily been developed to meet the demands for scaled down low-cost sensor and actuator systems. These devices are based on a number of contrasting principles, e.g. LÄS MER
5. High Aspect Ratio Microstructures in Flexible Printed Circuit Boards : Process and Applications
Sammanfattning : Flexible printed circuit boards (flex PCBs) are used in a wide range of electronic devices today due to their light weight, bendability, extensive wiring possibilities, and low-cost manufacturing techniques. The general trend in the flex PCB industry is further miniaturization alongside increasing functionality per device and reduced costs. LÄS MER
