  1. 21. Biomarkers of Inflammation and Intestinal Mucosa Pathology in Celiac Disease

    Författare :Hanna Gustafsson Bragde; Jan Söderman; Ulf Jansson; Ewa Grodzinsky; Mats Fredrikson; Ross McManus; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic small intestinal immune-mediated enteropathy triggered by gluten. The only currently available treatment is complying with a lifelong gluten-free diet, which should not be commenced before a CD diagnosis has been established by diagnostic test results (including histopathologic assessment of small intestinal biopsies and CD-specific antibody levels). 2. 22. Inflammatory Reactions in Peritonitis and Malignant Obstructive Jaundice : Clinical and Experimental Studies with Special Emphasis on the Cellular Immune Response

    Författare :Johanna Österberg; Ulf Haglund; Mikael Ljungdahl; Roland Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; CLP; sepsis; peritonitis; bacterial translocation; malignant obstructive jaundice; Linomide; COX inhibitor; SC-236; indometacin; T lymphocyte; macrophage; mucosa; MLN; gut immune cell distribution; mucosal injury; cytokines; TNF-α; IL-6; IL-10; endotoxin; caspase-3; apoptosis; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with peritonitis or malignant obstructive jaundice (HPB+) have an increased morbidity and mortality due to sepsis. An altered cell-mediated immunity in the intestinal mucosa might promote gut barrier failure, increased endotoxin and cytokine release and bacterial translocation (BT) in these conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Immunopathogenesis of Gai2-deficient mice. A model of inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Lena Öhman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory Bowel Disease; Mucosa; Apoptosis; Bordetella pertussis; G-protein;

    Sammanfattning : The intestinal mucosa is the largest lymphoid organ in the body, and it simultaneously has to protect us from any pathogen that might enter the gastrointestinal tract as well as maintaining tolerance to most antigens, mainly in the form of dietary constituents and microbial products. A dysfunctional control of local intestinal immune responses may lead to development of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) - the common name for ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn´s disease (CD). 4. 24. Growth and integrity of the small intestine in malnutrition and trauma

    Författare :Michael Wirén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Glutamine; growth factors; intestinal mucosa; malnutrition; permeability; surgery; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The small intestine is an active metabolic organ constituting a functional and immunologic barrier to toxins and microbes in the intestinal lumen. Injuries are repaired by rapid cell replication, which depends on nutritional and humoral growth factors. Glutamine has been suggested to be the most important nutrient for the enterocytes. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Functional analysis of the mouse J chain

    Författare :Lena Erlandsson; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; diphtheria toxin A; plasma cell; mucosa; J chain; knock-out; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : We have in this study analyzed the function of the murine Joining chain (J chain) in vivo. J chain is a polypeptide found in sera and secretions in complex with pentameric IgM and dimeric IgA. LÄS MER
