  1. 1. Moisture Buffering in the Indoor Environment

    Författare :Kaisa Svennberg; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknik; furniture; textiles; moisture buffering; beds; indoor air; indoor environment; sorption isotherms; field measurements; definition scheme; Technological sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Moisture buffering in the indoor environment is the ability, through absorption and desorption, of surface materials to attenuate the moisture variations of the indoor air. Moisture buffering plays an important role in understanding the risks for biological growth in surface materials in the indoor environment, e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Författare :Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 3. 3. A Sociological Approach to Indoor Environment in Dwellings : Risk factors for Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and Discomfort

    Författare :Karin Engvall; Dan Norbäck; Eva Sandstedt; Göran Strid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Indoor environment; Questionnaire; Atopy; Building age; Indoor air quality; Sick building syndrome SBS ; Validation; Dwelling; Energy conservation; Mechanical ventilation; Building dampness; Building reconstruction; Wood heating; Electric heating; Heat pump; Thermal Insulation; Sealing; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim was to study selected aspects of indoor environment in dwellings and their association with symptoms compatible with the sick building syndrome (SBS). A validated questionnaire was developed specifically for residential indoor investigations, using sociological principles and test procedures. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Determination and control of some pollutants in indoor environments

    Författare :Pawel Markowicz; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; indoor air quality; indoor pollutants; dampness; purification; tobacco smoke;

    Sammanfattning : Unsatisfactory indoor air quality (IAQ) may result from polluting emissions that are spread from building materials such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or microbial components or from various kinds of human activity such as smoking. Different methods are available to limit the exposure to unwanted pollutants and improve human wellbeing and health. LÄS MER

  5. 5. User Perception of Climate in Hospital Wards. An Analysis of Thermal Climate and Air Humidity Demands

    Författare :Jennie Ekbom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; recommendations; perception; indoor environment; air humidity; thermal climate; guiding principles; hospital ward;

    Sammanfattning : There are very few studies on perceived climate in hospital environments. This study deals with hospital wards, the consequences of establishing requirements for air humidity in them, and the use of existing recommendations and guiding principles. Many variables affect people’s perception of the indoor environment. LÄS MER
