21. Violent behavior and violent victimization among general psychiatric patients : prevalence and prediction
Sammanfattning : The intriguing question of how mental disorder and violence relate to each other has become an epic academic debate. During the last decades, there has been a change in direction of the debate on individuals with mental disorder, with a greater focus on violent victimization than violent behaviour towards others. 22. Multiphysical analysis methods to predict the ageing and durability of concrete
Sammanfattning : With the societal demand for sustainability and the increasing age of infrastructure, a crucial task for the civil engineering community is to improve the durability of concrete structures. This thesis aims to contribute to such development through theoretical studies using mathematical modelling and numerical simulations. LÄS MER
23. Structure and stability of liposomes : Interactions with micelle- forming surfactants
Sammanfattning : The stability of phospholipid lipomes interacting with micelle-forming surfactants was studied under physiological conditions (150 mM NaCl and pH=7.4 unless otherwise stated) mainly by use of cryo-TEM and fluorescence. LÄS MER
24. Predicting shear type crack initiation and growth in concrete with non-linear finite element method
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the possibility to numerically describing the behaviour that signifies shear type cracking in concrete is studied. Different means for describing cracking are evaluated where both methods proposed in design codes based on experiments and advanced finite element analyses with a non-linear material description are evaluated. 25. Essays on energy technology learning and voluntary carbon offsets
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of an introductory part and three self-contained papers, all related to the issue of promoting renewable energy sources. Paper I presents the results from a hypothetical market experiment of Swedish students' stated willingness to purchase emission allowances for carbon dioxide within the European emissions trading system.
