21. Biotechnological treatment of chlorophenol-contaminated water
Sammanfattning : Widespread presence of toxic and persistent pollutants in the environment, even at low concentrations, causes risks of adverse effects to human health and the ecosystem. Biological methods for treatment of water streams and removal of persistent pollutants are of great interest due to their simplicity, low cost, and mild operational conditions without harmful by-products. 22. Anaerobic digestion of crop residues at low temperatures
Sammanfattning : Biogas is a renewable source of energy. Residues from agriculture contain considerable energy potential and are suitable substrates for biogas production, but in Sweden the utilization of these residues is low. The economic feasibility of biogas production in general is low, and only limited subsidies are provided by the state. LÄS MER
23. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction
Sammanfattning : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 24. Microbial Community Assembly during Aerobic Granulation
Sammanfattning : Environmental deterioration together with the increasingly restrictive legislation of water quality standards have led to a demand for compact, efficient and less energy consuming technologies for wastewater treatment. Aerobic granular membrane bioreactors (AGMBRs) combine the advantages of aerobic granular sludge and membrane filtration. LÄS MER
25. Microbial Ecology of Granular Sludge
Sammanfattning : Granular sludge is an efficient and compact biofilm process for wastewater treatment. Despite the well-established methods for granule cultivation, the ecological processes underpinning the microbial community assembly during granulation are poorly understood. LÄS MER
