Sammanfattning : The study explores the meanings and practices associated with Vellalah identity in relation to the Tamil nation project in Jaffna, in the northern part of Sri Lanka, with a focus on caste transformation. Given that caste is a culturally sensitive identity and practice of Tamils, the inescapable engagement with the Tamil nation project is investigated here via a case study on Vellalah, the protagonist and hegemonic caste among Tamils. 4. Meeting-places of Transformation : Urban Identity, Spatial Representations and Local Politics in St Petersburg, Russia
Sammanfattning : This study develops a model for understanding spatial change and the construction of space as a meeting-place, and then employs it in order to show an otherwise little-known picture of (sub-)urban Russia and its transformation from Soviet times to today. The model is based on time-geographic ideas of time-space as a limited resource in which forces of various kinds struggle for access and form space in interaction with each other. LÄS MER
5. Revisiting the Past : Israeli identity, thick recognition and conflict transformation
