  1. 1. Hydraulic Conductivity of Saturated Sand-Bentonite mixtures

    Författare :Malin Sundsten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quarry sand; design; bentonite; landfill barrier; field tests; dry density; foundry green sand; laboratory tests; hydraulic conductivity;

    Sammanfattning : The implementation of the EC directive concerning landfill liners and covers sets stricter technical and environmental requirements for landfill barriers. It is therefore essential to identify suitable materials that fulfil these requirements. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydraulic conductivity relations in soil and fractured rock : fluid component and phase interaction effects

    Författare :Jerker Jarsjö; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The hydraulic conductivity of soil and fractured rockdetermines the rate at which fluids and dissolved chemicals flowthrough the subsurface, for given conditions at the boundary.Hence, the estimation of relevant parameters for quantificationof hydraulic conductivity relations constitutes a critical basisfor accurate model predictions. 3. 3. Transport Coefficients during Drying of Solids containing Multicomponent Mixtures

    Författare :Rafael Gamero; Joaquín Martínez; Evangelos Tsotsas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; capillary; conduction; convection; diffusion; evaporation; heat transfer; hydraulic conductivity; liquid film; liquid transport; mass transfer; Maxwell-Stefan diffusion coefficients; molar fluxes; phase equilibrium; temperature gradient; ternary mixture; thermodynamic factors; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigated the transport coefficients involved in mass and heat transfer during the drying of a porous solid partially saturated with multicomponent mixtures.  It included the coefficients governing liquid transport through the solid, the matrix of multicomponent diffusion coefficients in the liquid phase, and the effective thermal conductivity. 4. 4. Impact of hydropower regulation on river water geochemistry and hyporheic exchange

    Författare :Dmytro Siergieiev; Hjalmar Laudon; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regulated river; hyporheic zone; hydraulic conductivity; clogging layer; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hydropower regulation of rivers exhibits a threat to the riverine ecosystems. Fragmentation of flow, landscape disturbances, and water retention are key features of regulated catchments, resulting in reduced floods and geochemical tr¬ansport, non-natural water level fluctuations, and thus disturbed exchange between the river and the aquifer. 5. 5. Maturation of Clay Seals in Deep Bore Holes for Disposal of Radioactive waste : Theory and Experiments

    Författare :Ting Yang; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; high-level radioactive waste; HLW; very deep borehole; VDH; disposal; saturation degree; water transport; maturation; model; shear strength; hydraulic conductivity; swelling pressure; homogenization; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : KBS-3 and very deep borehole (VDH) concepts are two major types of long-term geologicaldisposal methods for high-level radioactive waste (HLW) isolating from the biosphere. TheKBS-3V concept for isolating the HLW at the depth of 400-500 m, is the officially proposedoption in Sweden and has been the subject of considerable research in the past few decades,while the VDH concept was considered as an option in the 1950s but later became discouragedbecause of insufficient experience in drilling technology.
