1. Hybrid laser-MIG welding : an investigation of geometrical considerations
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a collection of theoretical and experimental investigations into various geometrical aspects of hybrid laser-MIG welding. The work is divided up into four parts; A review of the hybrid laser-MIG welding technique with brief summaries of the three papers which make up the remainder of the thesis. LÄS MER
2. Joining of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastics for Automotive Applications
Sammanfattning : The introduction of carbon-fibre reinforced plastics in loadbearing automotive structures provides a great potential toreduce vehicle weight and fuel consumption. To enable themanufacture and assembly of composite structural parts, reliable and cost-effective joining technologies must bedeveloped. LÄS MER
3. Numerical stress analysis in hybrid adhesive joint with non-linear materials
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents systematic numerical study of stresses in the adhesive of a single-lap joint subjected to various loading scenarios (mechanical and thermal loading). The main objective of this work is to improve understanding of the main material and geometrical parameters determining performance of adhesive joint for the future analysis of failure initiation and development in these structures. 4. State Estimation for Distributed and Hybrid Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two aspects of recursive state estimation: distributed estimation and estimation for hybrid systems. In the first part, an approximate distributed Kalman filter is developed. Nodes update their state estimates by linearly combining local measurements and estimates from their neighbors. LÄS MER
5. Hybrid Governance in Practice : Public and Private Actors in the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism
Sammanfattning : It is commonly argued that the private sector needs to become actively involved for society to stand a chance of solving the most pressing global problems. This thesis, consisting of five articles previously published in refereed journals and an introductory essay, studies one case of private actor participation in global environmental governance: the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
