  1. 1. Search for molecular and metabolic mechanisms contributing to impaired β-cell function

    Författare :Siri Malmgren; Diabetes - epigenetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIF-1α; oxygen consumption; β-cell; Insulin secretion; Type 2 Diabetes; mitochondrial metabolism; metabolic profiling; Lipotoxicity; Histone acetylation; Histone methylation;

    Sammanfattning : Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) prevalence is growing to pandemic proportions worldwide. The link between genotype, environment and β-cell function is still being investigated. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Interaction of the Adenovirus E1B-55K Protein with a Histone Deacetylase Complex: Its Importance in Regulation of P53 Protein Functions

    Författare :Tanel Punga; Göran Akusjärvi; Klas G. Wiman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; adenovirus; E1B-55K; p53; histone acetylation; Sin3; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The human tumour suppressor protein p53 is an effective inhibitor of cell growth, by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. However, p53-induced cell growth inhibition can be detrimental for virus multiplication. Therefore, viruses encode for proteins, which can interfere with the functions of the p53 protein. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Epigenetic regulation of gene expression in the vascular endothelium

    Författare :Mia Magnusson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epigenetics; histone acetylation; DNA methylation; t-PA; PLAT; HUVECs; valproic acid; gene expression; enhancers;

    Sammanfattning : Epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation and histone modifications, constitute one way for a cell or an organism to respond to changes in the surrounding environment. While histone modifications are recognized to be quite dynamic, DNA methylation has been considered a more stable, or long-term, modification. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Transcriptional regulation of the latent membrane protein 1 gene by Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 2

    Författare :Lars Palmqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epstein-Barr virus; B-cell; transformation; LMP1; EBNA2; transcription; phosphorylation; histone acetylation;

    Sammanfattning : The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous human herpes virus, which infects B-cells. This leads to a life-long latent infection, which in most cases is non-pathogenic. However, EBV is etiologically associated with several human malignancies, including endemic Burkitt's lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and post-transplant lymphoma. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of vascular endothelial t-PA expression in inflammation: Potential target for pharmacological modulation

    Författare :Pia Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Vascular biology; Fibrinolysis; Inflammation; Histone acetylation;

    Sammanfattning : The endogenous fibrinolytic system is important for preventing occluding thrombosis and subsequent tissue infarction. The main activator of the fibrinolytic system in the vascular compartment is tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA). LÄS MER
