  1. 1. Muscle mass and function after total hip arthroplasty

    Författare :Anton Rasch; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Osteoarthrosis; arthritis; joint disease; hip muscle strength; hip muscle function; outcome; elderly; attenuation; fatty infiltration; gait analysis; balance;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoarthritis (OA) of the hip is a common disease among elderly causing pain, joint stiffness and reduced mobility. Outcome studies have shown total hip arthroplasy (THA) to be a successful surgical procedure. Studies of muscle strength and function after THA are more scarce and results vary. LÄS MER

  2. 2. MUSCLE STRENGTH, GROSS MOTOR FUNCTION AND GAIT PATTERN IN CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

    Författare :Meta Nyström Eek; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; child; muscle strength; reference values; cerebral palsy; motor skills; gait; resistance training;

    Sammanfattning : Aim The main purpose was to explore the relationship between muscle strength and walking ability in children with bilateral spastic cerebral palsy (CP), and to analyse whether muscle strength training can improve walking ability. Another aim was to establish normative values for muscle strength in terms of torque in typically developing children and adolescents, and in relation to sex, age and body weight. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Long-term outcome of children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy

    Författare :Annika Lundkvist; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; selective dorsal rhizotomy; outcomes; long-term follow-up; Cerebral palsy; children; function; physiotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to describe long-term development of functional outcomes in children with cerebral palsy undergoing selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) combined with physiotherapy and to evaluate measures used in follow-up. Five years after SDR muscle tone was reduced, passive range of motion (PROM) increased in hip, knee and foot, gross motor function measured by the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM) improved as well as functional performance and independence by the Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory. 4. 4. Return to Sport after Hip Arthroscopy. Perspectives on a journey with many destinations

    Författare :Tobias Wörner; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Femoroacetabular impingement; Rehabilitation; Physiotherapy; Performance; Muscle strength; Range of motion; Psychological readiness;

    Sammanfattning : Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome is often treated with hip arthroscopy (HA) with the goal of enabling return to sport. While the number of HAs has been rising, little is known about the rehabilitation process or about outcomes related to return to sport (RTS) following the procedure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Leg length discrepancy and femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty : clinical and radiological studies

    Författare :Sarwar Mahmood; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Sead Crnalic; Gösta Ullmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Total hip arthroplasty; leg flength discrepancy; femoral offset; WOMAC; quality of life; complication; radiographic measurements; acetabular cup; inclination; anteversion; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 16000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This surgical intervention is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain pain-free mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma.
