  1. 1. On-site wastewater treatment : Polonite and other filter materials for removal of metals, nitrogen and phosphorus

    Författare :Agnieszka Renman; Per-Erik Jansson; Lars D. Hylander; Gunno Renman; Björn Klöve; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; alkaline materials; heavy metals; mechanisms; nutrient removal; sorption; speciation modelling; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Bed filters using reactive materials are an emerging technology for on-site wastewater treatment. Chemical reactions transfer contaminants from the aqueous to the solid phase. Phosphorus is removed from domestic wastewater by sorption to filter materials, which can then be recycled to agriculture as fertilisers and soil amendments. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From hydrothermal carbonization to blue hydrochars and activated carbons : Adsorption of volatile organic compounds and heavy metals

    Författare :Vahid Saadattalab; Niklas Hedin; Satu Ojala; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrothermal carbonization; hydrochars; activated carbon; volatile organic compounds; heavy metals; materialkemi; Materials Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrothermal carbonization of carbohydrate and biomass is a straightforward method for preparing hydrochars at low temperature. Hydrochars are more carbonized than their precursors. Hydrochars themselves are carbon precursors for preparing activated carbons. Activated carbons are porous materials that can be used for water and air purification. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Microbial Treatment of Heavy Metal Leachates

    Författare :Teresa Alvarez Aliaga; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pollution control; Environmental technology; algal-bacterial symbiosis.; metal precipitation; biosorption; biogenic sulphide; municipal and agricultural solid wastes organic matter degradation; sulphate-reducing bacteria; Bioremediation; heavy metals removal; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Ore-mining, metallurgy and other industrial activities represent the source of heavy metal and radionuclide contamination in terrestrial and aquatic environments. Physico-chemical processes are employed for heavy metal removal from industrial wastewater. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Heavy metal removal by floating treatment wetlands: Plant selection

    Författare :Maria Schück; Maria Greger; Åsa Danielsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phytoremediation; Rhizofiltration; Heavy metal; Chloride; Floating treatment wetland; Wetland plants; Stormwater; Plant Physiology; växtfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Elevated levels of heavy metals and chloride are commonly found in stormwater, as a consequence of pollution from traffic, building material and industries, and the use of salt for deicing in wintertime. Floating treatment wetlands (FTWs), consisting of vegetated rafts that can be placed in stormwater ponds, may be able to reduce heavy metal and chloride concentrations, but until this date have mainly been used for nutrient removal in warm climates. 5. 5. Floating treatment wetlands for stormwater management : Plant species selection and influence of external factors for heavy metal and chloride removal in a cold climate

    Författare :Maria Schück; Maria Greger; Hans Brix; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Floating treatment wetlands; Phytodesalination; Rhizofiltration; Phytoremediation; Stormwater; Heavy metals; Chloride; Plant traits; Carex riparia; Carex pseudocyperus; Phalaris arundinacea; Flytande våtmarker; dagvatten; tungmetaller; klorid; fytoremediering; slokstarr; rörflen; jättestarr; växtfysiologi; Plant Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Stormwater, which consists of rainwater and snowmelt, often contains pollutants from vehicle traffic, building materials, and industries. These pollutants include chloride and heavy metals, which can cause several environmental issues, such as being toxic to biota at elevated concentrations. LÄS MER
