  1. 1. Modern Thermal Power Plants - Aspects on Modelling and Evaluation

    Författare :Klas Jonshagen; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; T-Q diagram; Combined cycle; heat- and mass-balance modelling; carbon capture; CO2;

    Sammanfattning : The European Union (EU) has laid down very clear objectives for the reduction of greenhouse gases in the hope that it will prevent or mitigate climate change. Political incentives are used to make the power industry adopt changes in order to reach these EU targets. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The fundamentals of ultrafine grinding in vibro-energy and annular ball mills

    Författare :Osawaru A. Orumwense; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Sammanfattning : The growing demand for ultrafine materials, the stringent quality requirements and the rising energy cost have prompted interests in the development and improvements of fine particles production techniques. The methods of producing fine particles are summarized in this thesis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Petermann Glacier Ice Shelf in a warming world : Insights from 3-D numerical modelling of ice shelf-ocean interactions at Petermann Fjord, Northwest Greenland

    Författare :Abhay Prakash; Nina Kirchner; Qiong Zhang; Riko Noormets; Hans Burchard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate change; Greenland; ice shelf-ocean interactions; numerical ocean modelling; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is currently the largest contributor to global mean sea level rise, and contemporary mass loss rates are likely lower bounds for the rates to be observed in decades to come. At present, marine outlet glaciers along the northern GrIS margin, with an ice volume estimated at 400 cm mean global sea level rise equivalent, are still largely buttressed by ice shelves. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sustainable Energy Conversion from Biomass Waste Combustion

    Författare :Maulana Nugraha; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; particle modelling; furnace; particulate matter; Stefan flow; computational fluid dynamics CFD ; orthogonal collocation; biomass waste combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Various biomass-type conversions into sustainable heat and power, from dedicated crops to solid biomass waste via the combustion process, are at the center of scientific and industrial focus today. However, biomass combustion contribution to global particulate matter (PM) emission has become one of the biggest challenges that remain in the development of sustainable biomass combustion systems. 5. 5. Oxy-coal combustion and its integration with power systems for CO2 capture

    Författare :Yukun Hu; Jinyue Yan; Roland Span; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxy-coal combustion; flue gas recycle; radiation; peak and off-peak operations; cryogenic CO2 purification;

    Sammanfattning : Oxy-fuel combustion is one of the technologies for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and storage (CCS) in fossil fuel based power systems to mitigate global greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions. When introducing oxy-fuel combustion into the power systems, energy penalty for CCS has significant impacts on the system performance. LÄS MER
