1. Finite Element Modeling of the Human Head
Sammanfattning : The main objectives of the present thesis were to define the dimension of head injuries in Sweden over a longer period and to present a Finite Element (FE) model of the human head which can be used for preventive strategies in the future. The annual incidence of head injuries in Sweden between 1987 and 2000 was defined at over 22 000, cases most of which were mild head injuries. LÄS MER
2. Physical Modeling of Brain and Head Kinematics
Sammanfattning : The development of head injury criteria and countermeasures for head protection requires understanding of how different factors affect brain and head kinematics. In this thesis, 2D physical models of the human head were developed and used to evaluate how various factors affect brain kinematics during angular head kinematics. LÄS MER
3. Biomechanical assessment of head and neck movements in neck pain using 3D movement analysis
Sammanfattning : Three-dimensional movement analysis was used to evaluate head and neck movement in patients with neck pain and matched controls. The aims were to further develop biomechanical models of head and neck kinematics, to investigate differences between subjects with non-specific neck pain and whiplash associated disorders (WAD), and to evaluate the potential of objective movement analysis as a decision support during diagnosis and follow-up of patients with neck pain. 4. Investigation of Head Injuries in Car-to-Child Pedestrian Accidents
Sammanfattning : Head injury is the most common injury type in child pedestrian accidents andcould lead to lifelong disability or even death. To protect child pedestrianfrom head injury, it is important to understand the head injury mechanismsand tolerance levels. LÄS MER
5. Towards On-line Learning Agents for Autonomous Navigation
Sammanfattning : The design of a mechatronic agent capable of navigating autonomously in a changing and perhaps previously unfamiliar environment is a very challenging issue. This thesis addresses this issue from both functional and system perspectives. LÄS MER
