    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated (1) social status and shaming experiences in relation to aggressive behaviour and depression, and (2) gene-environment interactions between two genetic polymorphisms related to the serotonergic system – MAOA-VNTR and 5HTTLPR – and experiences of maltreatment in relation to delinquent behaviour and depression among adolescents. The four included studies are based on questionnaire data from the Survey of Adolescent Life in Vestmanland 2006 (SALVe-2006). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gene-Environment Interaction in Adolescent Deviant Behaviour

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to explore gene-environmental (G*E) interactions in relation to deviant behaviour among 200 Swedish adolescents, with a focus on criminality, alcohol consumption and depressive symptoms. Those behaviours have been extensively investigated in relation to both psychosocial and biological risk factors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Alcohol abuse and criminality : a cross-fostering study of gene-environment interaction

    Författare :Sören Sigvardsson; Michael Bohman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The subjects consists of all persons born out of wedlock in Stockholm during the years 1930 through 1949 and who were placed in non-related adoptive homes by the age of three years (N = 1 753, or 862 men and 913 women).Data are obtained from official records.Results. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gene environment-interaction and cardiovascular phenotype in obesity and diabetes

    Författare :Shafaat Hussain; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Although a large body of evidence supports the notion that genes determine cardio-metabolic traits and outcomes, the non-genetic regulation of these events has recently gained increasing attention. Plastic chemical modifications of DNA-histone complexes defined epigenetic changes regulate gene expression by modifying chromatin accessibility to transcription factors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Interaction of genetic susceptibility and traffic-related air pollution in cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Anna Levinsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiovascular disease; genetic variants; air pollution; gene-environment interaction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed at investigating gene-environment interaction in cardiovascular disease (CVD). A study population of 618 coronary heart disease (CHD) cases (of which 192 first-time acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients) and 3614 randomly selected population controls was genotyped for genetic variants in genes coding for nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and glutathione s-transferase (GST).
