Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate the processes through which mathematical and gendered subjectivity is constituted, reconstituted and maintained in different situations during Early Childhood Teacher Education (ECE). In three research articles it is investigated how student teachers’ subjectivity constitutions are expressed, formulated and reformulated in different discursive and material practices. LÄS MER
2. Shaped for beauty : Vocational and gendered subjectivities in private education for the beauty industry
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to answer the question: How are vocational, gendered subjectivities produced in vocational education for the beauty industry? Drawing on Foucault and poststructural feminist theory, this question is answered in four papers, in which the material consists of beauty-school recruitment and marketing material, interviews with skin and spa therapy students and observations of practical skin and spa therapy training. These are educational arrangements that are closely bound to the economic sector of the beauty industry, and they have remained remarkably unexplored. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : This dissertation is centered on the everyday spatial practices, identity work and political subjectivities of Swedish rural youth. It explores and challenges widespread notions of rural backwardness and moral inferiority by studying youth’s navigations and negotiations on a classed, gendered, spatialized and economically produced moral field. 4. L'Écriture comme seul pays. Construction et subversion des discours identitaires : hybridité et genre chez Assia Djebar et Nina Bouraoui
Sammanfattning : This thesis, situated in the context of francophone and maghrebian postcolonial studies, examines the impact of identity discourses on the protagonists’ subjectivity in Assia Djebar’s La Femme sans sépulture (2002) and La Disparition de la langue française (2003) and Nina Bouraoui’s Garçon manqué (2000) and Mes mauvaises pensées (2005). These novels draw a parallel between two historically connected spaces, France and Algeria, and periods, the years of the Algerian war of independence and the rise of Islamists in 1990s Algeria. 5. Submitting to God: Women's islamization in urban Malaysia
Sammanfattning : This anthropological study addresses issues of subjectivity and agency within the context of pious, Muslim, Malay women's religious practice in urban Malaysia. It investigaes how Malay women come to understand themselves as gendered, religious subjects and, thereby, explores the motivations and meanings that women ascribe to their emergent roles in the religious sphere and within the Islamization process.
