1. Lithium-ion Battery Safety - Assessment by Abuse Testing, Fluoride Gas Emissions and Fire Propagation
Sammanfattning : Lithium-ion batteries offer high energy and power densities as well as long life time but have a more narrow stability window compared to other battery types and contain reactive and flammable materials. In case of overheating the battery cell can release gas (vent) and, at temperatures of about 150-200 °C, a so called thermal runaway can occur, that is a rapid self-heated temperature increase which is typically accompanied with a large release of smoke and gas, fire and a potential cell case explosion or gas explosion. 2. Övertändning, backdraft och brandgasexplosion sett ur räddningstjänstens perspektiv
Sammanfattning : This report presents a detailed description of the phenomena flashover, backdraft and smoke gas explosion. The physical and chemical processes which are involved in these phenomena are thoroughly discussed. The report also describes a number of compartment fire scenarios which are believed to be the most common scenarios occurring in Sweden. LÄS MER
3. An Experimental Study on the Dynamics of a Single Droplet Vapor Explosion
Sammanfattning : The present study aims to develop a mechanistic understanding of the thermal-hydraulic processes in a vapor explosion, which may occur in nuclear power plants during a hypothetical severe accident involving interactions of high-temperature corium melt and volatile coolant. Over the past several decades, a large body of literature has been accumulated on vapor explosion phenomenology and methods for assessment of the related risk. LÄS MER
4. Off-gassing from thermally treated lignocellulosic biomass
Sammanfattning : Off-gassing of hazardous compounds is, together with self-heating and dust explosions, the main safety hazards within large-scale biomass storage and handling. Formation of CO, CO2, and VOCs with concurrent O2 depletion can occur to hazardous levels in enclosed stored forest products. LÄS MER
5. Explosions in urban environments: Modelling of gas explosions and risk of premature shear failure in reinforced concrete structures
Sammanfattning : The risk for accidental gas explosions in urban environments has increased in Sweden in recent years. This is due to densification of existing urban centres and the rise of vehicles powered by alternative fuels. LÄS MER
