1. Experimental Studies of Advanced Ignition Systems for Lean Burn Natural Gas Engines
Sammanfattning : One of the greatest challenges for the transport sector today is reducing its environmental impact. This applies especially to the emission aspects, much due to increasingly stringent emissions legislations. LÄS MER
2. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation
Sammanfattning : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. LÄS MER
3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Sammanfattning : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 4. On-Engine Turbocharger Performance Considering Heat Transfer
Sammanfattning : Heat transfer plays an important role in affecting an on-engine turbocharger performance. However, it is normally not taken into account for turbocharged engine simulations. LÄS MER
5. On Premixed Gas Fuelled Stirling Engine Combustors with Combustion Gas Recirculation
Sammanfattning : The main objective in the research described in this thesis was to design and test the use of lean premixed combustion using combustion gas recirculation for gas fuelled Stirling engine combustors. A system using a flame-arrester type of flame-holder to stabilize the flame and an ejector system for the recirculation of combustion gas was designed and tested in the laboratory. LÄS MER
