  1. 1. Nuclear Structure Studies near 208Pb and γ-ray Imaging Techniques

    Författare :Natasa Lalovic; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; gamma-Ray spectroscopy; AGATA; isomeric decays; relativistic projectile fragmentation; Pb isotopes; nuclear structure; gamma-ray spectroscopy; AGATA; isomeric decays; relativistic projectile fragmentation; Pb isotopes;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on a high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy experiment where the fragmenta- tion of a 208 Pb primary beam was used to populate even-mass nuclei around 208 Pb. It was conducted in 2012 using the Advanced GAmma-ray Tracking Array (AGATA) while it was placed at GSI Darmstadt, Germany. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of Nuclear Fuel Performance Using On-site Gamma-ray Spectroscopy and In-pile Measurements

    Författare :Ingvar Matsson; Anders Bäcklin; Ane Håkansson; Björn Grapengiesser; Riitta Kyrky-Rajamäki; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; fission gas release; nuclear fuel; core physics; gamma-ray spectroscopy; LOKET; thermal power; burnup; fuel failure; validation; cladding; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Presently there is a clear trend of increasing demands on in-pile performance of nuclear fuel. Higher target burnups, part length rods and various fuel additives are some examples of this trend. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Applications of Gamma Ray Spectroscopy of Spent Nuclear Fuel for Safeguards and Encapsulation

    Författare :Christofer Willman; Ane Håkansson; Henrik Nylén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nuclear physics; gamma radiation; spectroscopy; spent nuclear fuel; safeguards; HRGS; MOX; Kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear energy is currently one of the world’s main sources of electricity. Closely connected to the use of nuclear energy are important issues such as the nonproliferation of fissile material that may potentially used in nuclear weapons (safeguards), and the management of the highly radioactive nuclear waste. 4. 4. Collective Structure of Neutron-Rich Rare-Earth Nuclei and Development of Instrumentation for Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy

    Författare :Pär-Anders Söderström; Johan Nyberg; Ayşe Ataç; John Simpson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; collective models; 150 < A < 189; AGATA; HPGe detectors; gamma-ray tracking; NEDA; pulse-shape discrimination; neutrons; neural network; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot kärnfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Neutron-rich rare-earth nuclei are among the most collective nuclei that can be found in nature. In particular, the doubly mid-shell nucleus 170Dy is expected to be the nucleus where the collective structure is maximized. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; spectroscopy; relaxation; magnetic resonance; supraconductors; Ge detectors; gamma-ray spectroscopy; charged particle detectors; level scheme; superdeformation; Cranched Nilsson-Strutinsky approach; gamma decay-out mechanism; prompt proton decay; Condensed matter:electronic structure; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; magnetic and optical properties; electrical; egenskaper elektriska; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; spektroskopi; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Andreoiu;

    Sammanfattning : High-spin states in the mass A~60 region were populated using the state-of-art gamma-ray spectrometers Gammasphere, Euroball, and GASP in conjunction with dedicated ancillary detectors. In particular, the 59Cu nucleus was studied in several experiments, and a very extensive level scheme was determined. LÄS MER
