1. Fractures of the distal radius : radiological measurements and clinical outcome
Sammanfattning : The most common fracture is the distal radius fracture (DRF). Wrist function is of importance for the ability to perform activities of daily living, work-related tasks and leisure activities. Treatment generally focuses on restoring anatomical alignment and providing adequate rehabilitation. LÄS MER
2. Kidney Function During Ageing and its Association with Bone Mass, Fracture and Mortality
Sammanfattning : Osteoporosis and osteoporosis related fractures are a major health care challenge both in Sweden and globally. The cost and suffering from osteoporosis are expected to increase since the population of elderly is increasing. Bone health can be affected by altered mineral homeostasis, which in its turn can be affected by reduced kidney function. LÄS MER
3. Development of a Morphology-based Analysis Framework for Asphalt Pavements
Sammanfattning : The morphology of asphalt mixtures plays a vital role in their properties and behaviour. The work in this thesis is aimed at developing a fundamental understanding of the effect of the asphalt morphology on the strength properties and deformation mechanisms for development of morphology-based analysis framework for long-term response prediction. 4. Risk faktors for fracture in middle-aged men and women
Sammanfattning : The number of fractures is increasing worldwide, and fractures frequently cause long-term disability, impaired quality of life and sometimes death. The Malmö Preventive Project, a population-based, prospective study, consisting of 22 444 men, mean age 44 and 10 902 women, mean age 50 years, provides data for evaluation of common public health conditions, such as fracture and diabetes. 5. Numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rock fractures
Sammanfattning : This study focuses on numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rough-walled rock fractures and fracture-matrix systems, with the main aim to investigate the impacts of fracture surface roughness on flow and transport processes in rock fractures. Both 2D and 3D fracture models were built from laser-scanned surface tomography of a real granite rock sample, to consider realistic features of surface tomography and potential asperity contacts.
