    Sammanfattning : Nowadays, there is an urgent need to decrease our dependence on fossilresources and shift towards the use of renewable resources for advancingsustainable development. Utilizing renewable and bio-based raw materials,such as lignocellulosic biomass, for designing new materials is a promisingapproach to promote this objective. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The effect of spatial and temporal dose distributions on radiation-induced side effects in the lung

    Författare :Berit Wennberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In radiotherapy (RT), the aim is to kill all malignant cells in a tumor or to render them incapable of further division and multiplication without producing damage to the normal tissues surrounding the tumor. To achieve this, both the spatial and temporal distribution of dose delivery are important for optimizing the treatment. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On ionising radiation and breast cancer risk

    Författare :Anders Mattsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ionising radiation; breast cancer induction; cancer induction; risk models; risk modification; pooled analysis; mammmographic screening; gained lost years of life;

    Sammanfattning : Background: It is well known that exposure to ionising radiation increases the risk for breast cancer occurrence. However, better understanding of breast cancer risks in terms of dose-response relationships formulated according to radiobiological target theories, age-at-exposure patterns and temporal dependence are important for the understanding of the underlying biological mechanism of radiation carcinogenesis as well as for the concern about possible risks associated with the very low doses received from routine mammographic screening.
