  1. 1. Face in cyberspace : Facework, (im)politeness and conflict in English discussion groups

    Författare :Ibolya Maricic; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; computer-mediated discourse; computer-mediated interaction; conflict management; discussion groups; face; facework; flaming; im politeness; strategies; verbal conflict; Languages and linguistics; Språkvetenskap; English language; Engelska språket; Human communication; Kommunikation mellan människor; Engelska med språkvetenskaplig inriktning; English;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the current study is to explore the discourse strategies and linguistic resources employed by the participants in English electronic discussion fora when handling ‘face’ (public self-image) and conflict online.Two data sets were collected from the moderated Musiclassical mailing list and from the non-moderated alt. 2. 2. Supporting Dynamic Decision Making in Naval Search and Evasion Tasks

    Författare :Christofer Waldenström; Love Ekenberg; Mats Danielson; Peter Thunholm; Neville Stanton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Decision support; visualization; dynamic decision-making; naval warfare; expanding search area; field of safe travel; search task; evasion task; ecological interface; anti-submarine warfare; constraints; flaming datum; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap; Ledningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates a decision aid to support tasks where there is an initial sighting of an object and then the decision maker has to guide some vehicles, either to reestablish contact with the lost object or to stay clear of it. As such, the tasks are analogous to naval search and evasion tasks. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Limiting conditions for a sustained flame over condensed fuels : Analysis by experiments and stagnant layer theory

    Författare :Frida Vermina Plathner; Avdelningen för Brandteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Critical mass flux; diffusion flame; extinction; sustained ignition; chemical heat of combustion; Convective heat transfer coefficient; external heat flux;

    Sammanfattning : Ignition and extinction characteristics of a material determine whether a fire will be initiated and grow. In fire safety engineering, where modellers deal with a multitude of materials, simplified thresholds are commonly used to determine when ignition and extinction occur. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Fighting flameless fires : Initiating and extinguishing self-sustainedsmoldering fires in wood pellets

    Författare :Ragni Fjellgaard Mikalsen; Vidar Frette; Bjarne C. Hagen; Ulrich Krause; Anne Steen-Hansen; Ulrich Krause; Nieves Fernandez-Anez; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fuel storage safety; Industrial fire; Biofuels; Smoldering; Extinguishment; Fire suppression; Fire growth; Fire spread; Heat transfer; Nonlinear dynamics; Complex systems; Combustion; Biomass energy; Synchronization; Oscillations; EMRIS;

    Sammanfattning : Smoldering fires represent domestic, environmental and industrial hazards. This flameless form of combustion is more easily initiated than flaming, and is also more persistent and difficult to extinguish. The growing demand for non-fossil fuels has increased the use of solid biofuels such as biomass. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Comparative study of residue pellets from cane sugar and palm-oil industries with commercial wood pellets, applied in downdraft gasification

    Författare :Catharina Erlich; Torsten Fransson; Björn Zethraeus; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy engineering; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : While biomass utilization for energy conversion in the industrialized nations is being largely developed, highly efficient and environmentally friendly, many tropical countries still use biomass at low efficiencies and high emission levels. The main reasons for these gaps are both political and technological: the energy markets are different, the Gross National Product (GDP) differs widely, and the feedstock differs in form and conversion behaviour.
