    Sammanfattning : This thesis comprises four self-contained papers that rely on applied micro-econometric methods to understand which factors are important in shaping the gender wage gap in globalized firms and how firms innovate when exposed to trade-induced shocks. I address the above aims by conducting qualitative case studies of Hum Network and AVT channels, which are both family firms at the time of their entry into the deregulated TV industry of Pakistan in 2005.
