    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is a study on the Swedish-speaking Civil Guards in Ostrobothnia and Turunmaa in Finland during the Finnish interwar period (1918-1939).     Sammanfattning : The aims of the thesis were to study (1) day care and school education of Finnish migrant children in Sweden, with respect to verbal, cognitive and identity development, (2) language as a tool of thought and the role of bilingualism in children's cognitive development, primarily with respect to Finnish children in Sweden, and (3) ethnic and individual identity of Finnish children and adolescents in Sweden and Finland.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to gain improved understanding of the income convergence between Finland and Sweden 1950-2000 with a focus on catch-up growth, wage formation, productivity growth, migration and structural change in a setting of structural and institutional differences on the factor markets.
