11. Simulation of individual cells in flow
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, simulations are performed to study the motion ofindividual cells in flow, focusing on the hydrodynamics of actively swimming cells likethe self-propelling microorganisms, and of passively advected objects like the red bloodcells. In particular, we develop numerical tools to address the locomotion ofmicroswimmers in viscoelastic fluids and complex geometries, as well as the motion ofdeformable capsules in micro-fluidic flows. 12. Stable FEM-FDTD Hybrid Method for Maxwell's Equations
Sammanfattning : In this thesis edge elements are applied to solve several problems in computational electromagnetics. In particular, a hybrid scheme joining the Finite Element Method (FEM) and the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) algorithm is developed, tested and exploited. LÄS MER
13. Optimization for scattering and radiation problems based on a stable FEM-FDTD hybrid method
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a stable hybrid method combining the finite-elementmethod (FEM) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) scheme forMaxwell's equations in two dimensions with both electric and magneticlosses is presented. It combines the flexibility of the FEM with theefficiency of the FDTD scheme. LÄS MER
14. High Order Finite Difference Methods with Artificial Boundary Treatment in Quantum Dynamics
Sammanfattning : The investigation of the dynamics of chemical reactions, both from the theoretical and experimental side, has drawn an increasing interest since Ahmed H. Zewail was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry. LÄS MER
15. Computation of EMC Properties of Slots and Printed Circuit Boards
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the numerical solution of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems for electronic systems, such as radiated emission, susceptibility and crosstalk on printed circuit boards and transmission through slots. The analysis of printed circuit boards is done by using an electric field integral equation (EFIE) expressed in the frequency domain, which is solved by using the method of moments. LÄS MER
