1. Comparison of stereotactic fine needle aspiration biopsy and core needle biopsy in breast lesions
Sammanfattning : Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of two biopsy methods by comparing stereotactic fine needle aspiration biopsy (S-FNAB) with stereotactic core needle biopsy (S-CNB). The biopsies were performed by the same radiologist, in the same breast lesion on the same occasion, in order to establish which method that best can be recommended in different kind of mammographically detected lesions. 2. Fine needle aspiration diagnosis of spindle cell tumors of soft tissue, including the use of ancillary methods, and correlation with clinical data
Sammanfattning : Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is gaining increased popularity in the diagnosis of soft tissue lesions. FNAC used as a primary examination method to obtain a morphologic diagnosis, has been part of the diagnostic work-up of patients admitted to the Musculoskeletal Tumor Center of the Lund University Hospital since 1972. 3. Desmoid tumors. New aspects on diagnostic procedures, treatment and outcome
Sammanfattning : Desmoid tumor (aggressive fibromatosis) is a rare, benign fibroblastic/myofibroblasticneoplasm that originates from musculoaponeurotic structures. It never metastasizes but locallygrows aggressively and infiltrates surrounding tissues. The treatment of choice has beensurgery. However, local recurrences are frequent. LÄS MER
4. Endosonography and pretreatment tumor profiling - from sampling, staining, to sequencing
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Endosonography-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is imperfect in diagnosing solid pancreatic lesions (SPL) and subepithelial lesions (SEL) including gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). In GISTs, imatinib therapy is effective only in variants of oncogenes KIT and PDGFRA. LÄS MER
5. Flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy : studies on methods for the diagnosis of carcinoma of the lung, bronchial mucosal damage and haemodynamic effects
Sammanfattning : The diagnostic accuracy attained with the use of transbronchial fine needle aspiration biopsy, aspiration of bronchial secretion, bronchial washing, brush biopsy and forceps biopsy via a flexible fiberoptic bronchoscope was compared in patients with carcinoma of the lung. In endoscopic visible tumours the sensitivity of forceps biopsy was higher than that of the other methods. LÄS MER
