  1. 1. Numerical and experimental study of acoustic and structural optimization

    Författare :Mats Tinnsten; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optimization; acoustics; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective with this thesis has been to create a procedure (method and program code) that enables automatic optimization of acoustic response from vibrating structures. Automatic means that the proposed method, on its own, should be able to find the desired acoustic quantities for a given problem formulation by altering given variables. LÄS MER

    Författare :Marianna Giassi; Malin Göteman; Jan Isberg; Gregorio Iglesias; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wave energy; Point absorber; Arrays; Parks; Farms; Optimization; Array layout; Genetic algorithm; Cost function; Wave tank experiment; Hydrodynamics; Economical model; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Sammanfattning : Many wave power conversion devices, especially point-absorbers, do not provide alone the necessary amount of converted electricity to be cost effective, instead they are designed to be deployed in arrays of many units. Such arrays, or parks, can satisfy a large-scale energy demand, reduce the costs of the produced electricity and improve the reliability of the system. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Shape Optimization for Acoustic Wave Propagation Problems

    Författare :Rajitha Udawalpola; Martin Berggren; Pekka Neittaanmäki; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; shape optimization; design optimization; acoustic wave propagation; Helmholtz equation; Boundary Element Method; Finite Element Method; inverse problems; adjoint method; gradient-based optimization; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Boundary shape optimization is a technique to search for an optimal shape by modifying the boundary of a device with a pre-specified topology. We consider boundary shape optimization of acoustic horns in loudspeakers and brass wind instruments. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Optimization-Based Motion Planning and Model Predictive Control for Autonomous Driving : With Experimental Evaluation on a Heavy-Duty Construction Truck

    Författare :Pedro F. Lima; Bo Wahlberg; Paolo Falcone; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automatic Control; Autonomous Driving; Model Predictive Control; Motion Planning; Optimization; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses smooth motion planning and path following control of autonomous large and heavy industrial vehicles, such as trucks and buses, using optimization-based techniques. Autonomous driving is a rapidly expanding technology that promises to play an important role in future society, since it aims at more energy efficient, more convenient, and safer transport systems. 5. 5. Synthesis of well arrayed structures with assistance of statistical experimental design

    Författare :Yajuan Cheng; Pär Jösson; Zhe Zhao; Gunnar Westin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optimization; experimental design; statistical analysis; monolayer arrays of silica spheres; vertically aligned ZnO rod arrays; Materials Science and Engineering; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : During the synthesis of well arrayed nano/micro structures through wet chemical methods, plenty of parameters are usually involved. Consequently, it is extremely time- and cost-consuming to find out the optimized synthesis conditions by using the conventional "changing one separate factor at a time" (COST) strategy. LÄS MER
