    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; aspect; aktionsart; event structure; telicity; boundedness; iteration; continuation; aspectualizers; progressive constructions; aspect shift.; Humaniora; Humanities; Engelska med språkvetenskaplig inriktning; English;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim of this thesis is to provide a comprehensive account of the meaning of keep V-ing constructions, see (1a) and (1b).(1) a. Mary kept winning (again and again).(1) b. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Optional rhemes and omitted undergoers : An event structure approach to implicit objects in Swedish

    Författare :Johanna Prytz; Cecilia Falk; Ida Larsson; Marit Julien; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; implicit objects; object omission; null objects; object drop; objectless sentences; pseudo-transitive; non-core transitive; transitivity; Swedish; event structure; argument structure; the syntax-semantic interface; implicita objekt; objektsutelämning; nollobjekt; objektslösa satser; pseudotransitiva verb; transitivitet; eventstruktur; argumentstruktur; Scandinavian Languages;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to define the essential syntactic-semantic properties of three types of objectless sentences in present-day Swedish. The three types of objectless sentences are labeled descriptively as follows: Implicit Object Read type (IOR) with pseudo-transitive verbs like läsa ‘read’; Implicit Object Open type (IOO), which involves various sets of transitive verbs like öppna ‘open’ and bära ‘carry’; and Implicit Object Kill type (IOK), which typically involves destruction verbs like döda ‘kill’. 3. 3. Event conceptualisation and aspect in L2 English and Persian : An application of the Heidelberg–Paris model

    Författare :Somaje Abdollahian Barough; Philip Shaw; Carina Jahani; Maria Kuteeva; Bergljot Behrens; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; event conceptualisation; event construal; language production; progressivity; internal structure; conceptual transfer; L1 influence; L2 learning; L2 user; dāštan-progressive; bare mi-form; imperfective; perfective; perspective-taking; English; Persian; English; engelska;

    Sammanfattning : The present project investigates the impact of the grammaticalised progressive on event conceptualisation in English and Persian. It applies the Heidelberg–Paris framework using single event descriptions for analysis at the sentence level and story re-narrations at the discourse level. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Geochronology of impact structures - constraining syn- and post-impact processes using the 40Ar/39Ar and U-Pb techniques

    Författare :Maria Herrmann; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Impact structure; Dating impact events; 40Ar 39Ar dating; U-Pb dating; Siljan impact structure; Mien impact structure; Hummeln impact structure; Puchezh-Katunki impact structure;

    Sammanfattning : The discovery, at the beginning of the 20th century, that elements can transform into other elements, due to the spontaneous decay of an instable to a stable atomic nuclei, gave rise to a powerful source for age information in many fields of earth science. For impact structures, it is crucial to establish well-defined and precise ages in order to understand how impact events affect the Earth’s geo and biosphere and also with regard to possible future events that can have devastating effects on our civilization. 5. 5. The Conceptual Structure of Object Control and Exceptional Case Marking in English

    Författare :Henric Hertzman; Nils-Lennart Johannesson; Christina Alm-Arvius; Kersti Börjars; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; object control; exceptional case marking; conceptual structure; force dynamics; attitude predicates; event types; alternation; English language; Engelska språket;

    Sammanfattning : Within the framework of Jackendoff’s conceptual semantics, this study investigates the semantic properties that govern the distribution of object control (such as John persuaded Mary to help Sally) and exceptional case marking (such as John wanted Mary to help Sally) in English. In contrast to Jackendoff’s approach to control, one central idea here is that the to-infinitive complements under discussion should receive a uniform semantic analysis, and thus that control behaviour cannot be explained in terms of semantic argument type of the complement clause.
