1. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic analysis of antidiuretic peptides
Sammanfattning : The clinical pharmacology of desmopressin and a new vasopressin analogue (F992) was investigated in healthy human subjects. The common procedure of overhydration of healthy volunteers when studying the antidiuretic effect of a drug, may affect the pharmacokinetics, in particular the volumes of distribution. LÄS MER
2. In vivo Pharmacokinetics of Two New Thrombin Inhibitor Prodrugs : Emphasis on Intestinal and Hepatobiliary Disposition and the Influence of Interacting Drugs
Sammanfattning : Biliary excretion is an important elimination route for many drugs and metabolites. For such compounds, it is important to know the extent of excretion and drug exposure in the bile, e.g., for the risk assessment of drug interactions, liver toxicity and the effects of genetic variants. 3. Group A Streptococci; Epidemiology and Genetics of Antibiotic Resistance
Sammanfattning : Group A streptococci (GAS) cause throat and skin infections, severe invasive diseases as well as the non-suppurative complications acute rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. GAS have retained susceptibility to betalactam drugs, but resistance to alternative antibiotics is of concern. LÄS MER
4. Antibiotics and infusion phlebitis. Clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Intravenous administration of antibiotics is often followed by infusion phlebitis. In this condition are vessel irritation, inflammation and sometimes superficial thrombosis included. In this thesis, the risk for infusion phlebitis for various antibiotics has been evaluated in a clinical study in 550 patients. LÄS MER
5. Macrolide Antibiotics in Bacterial Protein Synthesis
Sammanfattning : Macrolides are a large group of clinically relevant antibiotics that inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the large ribosomal subunit in the peptide exit tunnel, close to the peptidyl transferase center (PTC). We have shown that the peptide length of the resulting peptidyl-tRNA drop-off products is proportional to the distance between the PTC and the respective macrolide in the tunnel. LÄS MER
