  1. 1. Androgen controlled regulatory systems in prostate cancer : potential new therapeutic targets and prognostic markers

    Författare :Peter Hammarsten; Anders Bergh; Stina Häggström Rudolfsson; Pernilla Wikström; Sten Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; prostate cancer; angiogenesis; human biopsy; androgen ablation; castration; prognostic marker; prognostic factor; growth control; VEGF; vascular endothelial growth factor; EGFR; epidermal growth factor receptor; pEGFR; phosphorylated EGFR; phosphorylated epidermal growth factor receptor; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Prostate cancer is by far the most common cancer among Swedish men. Some patients have an aggressive lethal disease, but the majority of affected men have long expected survival. Unfortunately, the diagnostic tools available are insufficient in predicting disease aggressiveness. Novel prognostic markers are therefore urgently needed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Novel Methods for Analysis of Heterogeneous Protein-Cell Interactions : Resolving How the Epidermal Growth Factor Binds to Its Receptor

    Författare :Hanna Björkelund; Karl Andersson; Lars Gedda; Yosef Yarden; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Cells are complex biological units with advanced signalling systems, a dynamic capacity to adapt to its environment, and the ability to divide and grow. In fact, they are of such high level of complexity that it has deemed extremely difficult or even impossible to completely understand cells as complete units. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biomarkers in non-small cell lung carcinoma : methodological aspects and influence of gender, histology and smoking habits on estrogen receptor and epidermal growth factor family receptor signalling

    Författare :Christina Karlsson; Karin Piehl-Aulin; Ulf Tidefelt; Gisela Helenius; Leif Johansson; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Non-small cell lung carcinoma is a leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. There are gender and smoking associated differences both in tumour types and clinical outcome. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are more frequent among smoking men while females develop adenocarcinomas (ADCA). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Affibody molecules targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor for tumor imaging applications

    Författare :Mikaela Friedman; Stefan Ståhl; Fredrik Nilsson; James S. Huston; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Affibody; affinity maturation; phage display selection; EGFR; molecular imaging; protein engineering; tumor targeting; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Tumor targeting and molecular imaging of protein markers specific for or overexpressed in tumors can add useful information in deciding upon treatment and assessing the response to treatment for a cancer patient. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is one such tumor-associated receptor, which expression is abnormal or upregulated in various cancers and associated with a poor patient prognosis. 5. 5. Ubiquitination and Receptor Endocytosis

    Författare :Kaisa Haglund; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Ivan Dikic; Harald Stenmark; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Ubiquitination; receptor tyrosine kinase; endocytosis; Cbl; CIN85; EGFR; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Protein ubiquitination is an evolutionary conserved mechanism that controls a wide variety of cellular functions. Polyubiquitinated proteins are generally degraded in the proteasome, whereas monoubiquitination controls various other cellular processes, including endocytosis and endosomal sorting. LÄS MER
