  1. 1. Wide-scope screening for contaminants of emerging concern in archived biota: Method development, suspect prioritisation, and non-target screening in a novel identification tool

    Författare :Wiebke Dürig; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental monitoring of hazardous chemicals in wildlife conventionally uses target screening for selected contaminants, but relatively few contaminants are moni-tored and knowledge of potentially hazardous contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wildlife is lacking. In this thesis, a non-target screening (NTS) method com-bined with temporal trend analysis was developed and applied as a prioritisation tool for identification of CECs in top predators, using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). 2. 2. On Uncertainty and Data Worth in Decision Analysis for Contaminated Land

    Författare :Pär-Erik Back; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; uncertainty; decision analysis; risk; sampling; data worth; soil sampling; contaminated land;

    Sammanfattning : Contaminated soil and groundwater is a problem that has received increased attention in the last decade. Decision-making about investigation strategies, protective actions, and remedial actions is based on sparse and uncertain information, primarily data of contaminant concentrations and geological information. 3. 3. Environmental levels of thallium : influence of redox properties and anthropogenic sources

    Författare :Ulrika Karlsson; Stefan Karlsson; Anders Düker; Roger Herbert; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thallium; Tl I ; Tl III ; separation; ion chromatography; fresh water; sediment; mine waste; fly ash; redistribution; ICP-MS; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Thallium is a highly toxic element that humans are exposed to mainly by consumption of drinking water and vegetables grown in soil with high thallium content but also through inhalation of particles in the air. Thallium is also present in fossil fuels, alloys, and in electronic utilities. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Trace Element Analysis with Application to Environmental Pollutants Studies in Vietnam

    Författare :Thi Hong Nguyen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blood; environmental samples; discriminant analysis; ICP-MS; coal mining; hair; EDXRF; microwave digestion; CV-AAS; urine; sample preparation; coal combustion;

    Sammanfattning : In the work presented here the attention has been focused on optimising sample preparation and analytical techniques for trace element determination, analytical quality assurance and environmental applications. Trace element concentrations in various environmental matrices were investigated using Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectro-metry (ICP-MS) and Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CV-AAS). 5. 5. Fish bile in environmental analysis

    Författare :Margaretha Adolfsson-Erici; Michael McLachlan; Lillemor Asplund; Freek Ariese; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fish bile estrogenic triclosan rubber additives pulp and paper; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : This work explores the usefulness of fish bile analysis in combination with biomarkers for identifying and evaluating new environmental contaminants in the aquatic environment. It illustrates how bile analysis can be used together with biomarkers to assess the causes of estrogenic effects, to identify chemicals in the aquatic environment that are taken up by fish, and to monitor environmental exposure.
