  1. 1. Metabolism of some polychlorinated biphenyl and polybrominated diphenyl ether congeners in the rat

    Författare :Anna Sandholm; Bert-Ove Lund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry; miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : For the understanding of the metabolic fate of xenobiotics, in vivo studies are needed. In this thesis the metabolism of CB-28 and CB-77 and BDE-209 in the rat are determined. In addition, pharmacokinetic studies of CB-28 and BDE- 209 are included. The compounds were radiolabelled and their excretion and tissue distribution determined. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Iodine Isotopes (129I and 127I) in the Baltic Sea   : Tracer applications & environmental impact

    Författare :Peng Yi; Ala Aldahan; Glen Snyder; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radioactive 129I; stable 127I; AMS; iodine species; nuclear reprocessing facilities; tracers; Baltic Sea; circulation; water exchange; environmental impact;

    Sammanfattning : 129I is a radioactive isotope (T1/2= 15.7 million years) produced through natural and anthropogenic pathways, but the anthropogenic production is presently dominating the Earth’s surface environments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Distribution, Sources and Environmental Pathways of Radioactive 129I in Fresh and Saline Water in the Baltic Region

    Författare :Abdulaziz Kekli; Ala Aldahan; Xiaolin Hou; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; 129I; iodine; environment; precipitation; river; Baltic Sea; radioactivity; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with distribution, sources and pathways of radioactive 129I (T1/2=15.6 My) in 54 rivers covering the Baltic region, precipitation (rain and snow) from southern, central and northern Sweden, and saline water from three depth profiles in the Baltic Sea and a surface water transect from the Baltic to the Kattegat. 4. 4. Narrating Nuclear Disaster : Literary Form and Affective Modes after Chernobyl and Fukushima

    Författare :Hannah Klaubert; Ansgar Nünning; Claudia Egerer; Catrin Gersdorf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Ecocriticism; nuclear disaster; Chernobyl; Fukushima; narrative; narratology; literature; Anthropocene; radioactivity; environmental humanities; energy humanities; nuclear humanities; English; engelska;

    Sammanfattning : The major nuclear disasters of Chernobyl (1986) and Fukushima (2011) play an important role in the public perception of nuclear power, yet their social and material impacts remain scientifically debated and, thus, their meaning for the future of nuclear power production contested. Narrating Nuclear Disaster intervenes in these debates by asking what might be learned about nuclear disasters through an analysis of the formal and affective strategies employed in literary texts narrating their aftermath. Författare :Mats Eriksson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear medicine; radiobiology; Nukleärmedicin; radiobiologi; Nuclear engineering and technology; Kärnteknik; realtime digital image systems; SEM; ICP-MS; alpha spectrometry; gamma spectrometry; heterogeneous activity concentration; hot particle; separation technique; isotopic ratio; inventory; source term; fallout; americium; uranium; plutonium; radionuclide; Bylot Sound; Greenland; Thule; environmental radioactivity; nuclear accident;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns a nuclear accident that occurred in the Thule (Pituffik) area, NW Greenland in 1968, called the Thule accident. Results are based on different analytical techniques, i.e. gamma spectrometry, alpha spectrometry, ICP-MS, SEM with EDX and different sediment models, i. LÄS MER
