1. Embedded Systems and FPGAs for Implementation of Control Oriented Models, Applied to Combustion Engines
Sammanfattning : Performance demands put on combustion engines are ever increasing, e.g. demands on emissions and fuel consumption. The increased demands together with new combustion concepts increase the need for feedback engine and combustion control. LÄS MER
2. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation
Sammanfattning : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 3. Diesel Engine Modeling for Engine Management System Development
Sammanfattning : Due to increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. 4. The Effects of Oxygenated Fuels on DISI Engine Particle Emissions and Efficiency : Experimental investigation of the effects of oxygenated biofuels on particle emissions and engine performance
Sammanfattning : The transport sector is one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions.Replacing fossil fuels with renewable fuels can help reduce the impact oftransportation on the climate. LÄS MER
5. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Sammanfattning : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset.
