  1. 16. Experimental Studies of Separated Flow and Heat Transfer in a Ribbed Channel

    Författare :Lei Wang; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiforskning; plasma; Energy research; fluiddynamik; Gaser; fluid dynamics; plasmas; Gases; Particle image velocimetry; Liquid crystal thermography; ribbed channel; heat transfer; turbulence properties; separated flow; coherent structures;

    Sammanfattning : The main concern of this thesis is to experimentally investigate the turbulent flow and heat transfer in a ribbed channel. Such flows are encountered in many engineering applications, e.g., gas turbine cooling. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Short term water heat storage : an experimental and numerical investigation of phenomena that affect the degree of thermal stratification

    Författare :Roger Hermansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Thermal stratification was studied by measurements of the temperature and velocity fields in water heat storage's and by numerical simulations. The work includes experimental investigations in three model heat storage's of different size and comparisons to numerical simulations for two of the storages. LÄS MER

  3. 18. High temperature aerosol formation and emission minimisation during combustion of wood pellets

    Författare :Henrik Wiinikka; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Combustion of solid biomass under fixed bed conditions is a common technique to generate heat and power in both small and large scale grate furnaces (domestic boilers, stoves, district heating plants). From both an environmental and economical perspective, one of the most interesting alternatives to replace oil and electricity for heating of family houses and apartments in Sweden is wood pellets made of stem wood sawdust from pine and spruce. 4. 19. Prediction of power and energy use in dwellings : Addressing apects of thermal mass and occupant behaviour

    Författare :Victor Fransson; Avdelningen för Installations- och klimatiseringslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadssimulering; Termisk massa; Värmetröghet; boendes beteende; hushållsel; varmvatten; building simulation; thermal mass; thermal inertia; occupant behaviour; household electricity; domestic hot water;

    Sammanfattning : Households are responsible for approximately 26 % of the annual energy use in the EU. Following the EU-directives regarding energy performance in buildings, international initiatives have been taken in Europe to help countries to define and include guidelines in their own building codes, for example, to establish the concept of zero energy buildings, ZEBs. 5. 20. Emissions of volatile organic compounds from wood

    Författare :Karin Granström; Bengt Månsson; Ann-Margret Strömvall; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VOC; terpenes; drying; wood; emissions; spouted bed; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Sammanfattning : The central aim of this thesis is to support the efforts to counteract certain environmental problems caused by emissions of volatile organic compounds. The purpose of this work was (1) to develop a method to establish the amount of emitted substances from dryers, (2) to determine the effect of drying medium temperature and end moisture content of the processed material on emissions of monoterpenes and other hydrocarbons, (3) to examine the emissions of monoterpenes during production of pellets, and (4) to examine the natural emissions from forests with an eye to implications for modelling.
