1. Contributions to Emission, Exposure and Risk Assessment of Nanomaterials
Sammanfattning : In recent years, synthetic nanomaterials have begun to be produced and used in increasingly larger volumes. These materials may cause new or increased risks to the environment, but no harmonized methods for structured assessment of their environmental risks exist. LÄS MER
2. Improving alternatives assessment of plastic additives : exploring in silico tools to identify less hazardous flame retardants
Sammanfattning : Alternatives assessment is applied for replacing hazardous chemicals with viable, safer substitutes. High quality experimental hazard data, however, are usually unavailable for this purpose, and obtaining in silico data is the only approach to fill in data gaps. LÄS MER
3. Air Pollution from Ships - Emission Measurements and Impact Assessments
Sammanfattning : Environmental impact and air pollution from ships have received increasing attention the last decades. Due to combustion characteristics of typical marine engines and a wide spread use of unrefined fuel, the global fleet emits significant amounts of SO2, NOX and particles to air. LÄS MER
4. ELM: Environmental Assessment of Fuel Supply Systems for Vehicle Fleets
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on the idea of applying a logistics approach to fuel supply systems. The complete supply chain from energy raw material to end use in the vehicle is analysed while keeping track of energy conversion efficiency, exergy consumption and emissions to air. LÄS MER
5. Assessment of Graft Effects and Function in Cell Replacement Therapy for Parkinson's Disease
Sammanfattning : This explorative study aimed to apply, develop, and evaluate assessment methods at various levels in cell replacement therapy for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Observed motor effects in five grafted patients support that timed motor tasks and clinical ratings of parkinsonism are able to monitor motor function, but their psychometric properties need further attention.
