1. Magnetically governed self-assembly of soft matter : A look into interfacial layering, crystallization and percolation
Sammanfattning : Self-organisation is the key route for assembling colloidal particles into well-defined structures. Decisive for this are the interactions between the constituents, which are amongst others steric, electrostatic or magnetic. LÄS MER
2. Mixed Block Copolymer Solutions: Self-Assembly and Interactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis incorporates studies on the aqueous systems of two types of thermoresponsive amphiphilic block copolymers; a series of nonionic triblock copolymers comprising blocks of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) denoted as PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers, and a series of ionic diblock copolymers consisting of one charged block and one block of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM). Various techniques, such as dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS), small angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS and SANS), high sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry (HSDSC), turbidimetry, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and two-dimensional proton NMR nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (2D 1H NMR NOESY), were applied to study these block copolymer systems. 4. Bicyclo[3.3.1]nonanes as Scaffolds in Supramolecular Chemistry : From Host-Guest Systems to Hydrogen-Bonded Aggregates
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane and its heteroanalogue 1,5- diazabicyclo[3.3. LÄS MER
5. Building Blocks for the Assembly of Nanostructures
Sammanfattning : The natural world and many man made technologies are driven by self-assembly, involving the autonomous organization of individual components as a result of specific local interactions into functional structures. Self-assembly is a platform from which to construct materials with a high complexity, in high precision, with an inbuilt error- correction system due to its dynamic nature. LÄS MER
