1. Capillarity and dynamic wetting
Sammanfattning : In this thesis capillary dominated two–phase flow is studied by means of nu- merical simulations and experiments. The theoretical basis for the simulations consists of a phase field model, which is derived from the system’s thermody- namics, and coupled with the Navier Stokes equations. LÄS MER
2. Molecular Processes in Dynamic Wetting : Du som saknar dator/datorvana kan kontakta Cathrine Bergh, [email protected] för information
Sammanfattning : The spreading of liquids onto and over surfaces is a fundamental process in nature. It is present in all forms and sizes: From rivers carving through landscapes, to our blood stream transporting nutrients to cells, and even single water molecules moving through channels into these cells. 3. Dynamic Wetting of Solid Surfaces, Influence of Surface Structures and Surface Active Polymers
Sammanfattning : The effect of surface structures on the dynamics of wetting was investigated through measurements of the dynamic contact angle and spreading velocity of oil droplets spreading over surfaces with parallel and gridlike V-shaped channels. A rim of liquid was observed to spread out in the channels ahead of the dropfront after a short time of spreading (seconds). LÄS MER
4. Capillarity and wetting of non-Newtonian droplets
Sammanfattning : Capillarity and dynamic wetting of non-Newtonian fluids are important in many natural and industrial processes, examples cover from a daily phenomenon as splashing of a cup of yogurt to advanced technologies such as additive manufacturing. The applicable non-Newtonian fluids are usually viscoelastic compounds of polymers and solvents. LÄS MER
5. Wetting and Capillary Flow of Surfactant Solutions and Inks
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results of a series of experimental studies on the spreading dynamics of small drops of complex solutions on solid surfaces. The capillary flow dynamics of complex solutions have also been investigated. LÄS MER
