1. Impact of adjacent dielectrics on the high-frequency performance of graphene field-effect transistors
Sammanfattning : Transistors operating at high frequencies are the basic building blocks of millimeter wave communication and sensor systems. The high velocity and mobility of carriers in graphene can open ways for development of ultra-fast group IV transistors with similar or even better performance than that achieved with III-V based semiconductors. 2. Drift and Mirror Modes in Magnetized Plasmas
Sammanfattning : Low frequency plasma instabilities driven by plasma inhomogeneity and velocity anisotropies are major candidates for the explanation of various phenomena observed in fusion and space plasmas. For low-β fusion plasma, the influence of plasma rotation and finite ion temperature on the structure and the type of toroidal drift eigenmodes in tokamaks is investigated rigorously, including the effects induced by the toroidal geometry such as the coupling mode, the radial variation of plasma rotation velocity and the magnetic shear. 3. Experimental Studies of Charge Transport in Single Crystal Diamond Devices
Sammanfattning : Diamond is a promising material for high-power, high-frequency and high- temperature electronics applications, where its outstanding physical properties can be fully exploited. It exhibits an extremely high bandgap, very high carrier mobilities, high breakdown field strength, and the highest thermal conductivity of any wide bandgap material. LÄS MER
4. Homogenization of reaction-diffusion problems with nonlinear drift in thin structures
Sammanfattning : We study the question of periodic homogenization of a variably scaled reaction-diffusion equation with non-linear drift of polynomial type. The non-linear drift was derived as hydrodynamic limit of a totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) for a population of interacting particles crossing a domain with obstacle. LÄS MER
5. Monte Carlo simulation of electron transport in semiconducting zigzag carbon nanotubes
Sammanfattning : Since the advent of nanoscale material based electronic devices, there has been a considerable interest in exploring carbon nanotubes from fundamental science and technological perspectives. In carbon nanotubes, the atoms form a cylindrical structure with a diameter of the order 1nm. LÄS MER
