1. Key Data for the Reference and Relative Dosimetry of Radiotherapy and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Beams
Sammanfattning : Accurate dosimetry is a fundamental requirement for the safe and efficient use of radiation in medical applications. International Codes of Practice, such as IAEA TRS-398 (2000) for radiotherapy beams and IAEA TRS-457 (2007) for diagnostic radiology beams, provide the necessary formulation for reference and relative dosimetry and the data required for their implementation. 2. Dosimetry in brachytherapy : application of the Monte Carlo method to single source dosimetry and use of correlated sampling for accelerated dose calculations
Sammanfattning : Three issues related to brachytherapy dosimetry are addressed in this thesis. (1) The prospect of using Compton scattering to measure energy spectra from a high dose-rate (HDR) 192Ir source is discussed and a Compton spectrometer evaluated. LÄS MER
3. Optically stimulated luminescence dosimetry with NaCl pellets. Dosimetry for prospective applications

4. Mixed Beam Dosimetry - From Reactor Core to BNCT Patient
Sammanfattning : Accurate radiation dosimetry is of paramount importance in order to ensure safe delivery of radiotherapy, and for the possibility of meaningful evaluation of clinical trials, as the radiation absorbed dose is correlated to tissue response. The aim of the studies described in this thesis was to investigate and devise novel approaches to mixed beam dosimetry in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). LÄS MER
5. Complex source modeling for electromagnetic dosimetry
Sammanfattning : Electromagnetic modeling of complex sources is useful in dosimetry applications as well as for near-field to far-field transformations and antennadiagnostics. In order to determine whether exposure safety guidelines, such as the EU directive 2004/40/EC, are complied with, it is important to be able tomodel the field distribution from electromagnetic sources.
