  1. 1. On intestinal ischaemia after aortoiliac surgery : Epidemiological, clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Martin Björck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Ischaemia; intestines; colon; ischaemic colitis; aorta-abdominal; aortic aneurysm-abdominal; aortic rupture; atherosclerosis; postoperative complications; cohort studies; case-control studies; clinical protocols; experimental design; incidence; risk factors; diagnosis; treatment outcome; intra-mucosal pH; pHi; swine; splanchnic circulation; haemodynamics; dobutamine; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : An important cause of death among patients undergoing surgery of the abdominal aorta is intestinal ischaemia. In the Swedish Vascular Registry 2930 aortoiliac operations were identified. The complication was studied in a combined cohort and case-control study, and multivariate analysis performed. The incidence of intestinal ischaemia was 2. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The importance of long axis function -an echocardiographic study with respect to ageing, response to treatment, prediction of survival and effect of warm water immersion

    Författare :Bente Grüner Sveälv; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Echocardiography; Long axis function; Heart failure; Age; Dobutamine stress; Recover; Prognosis; Warm water immersion;

    Sammanfattning : Echocardiographic M-mode measurement of atrioventricular plane displacement (AVPD) and determination of annular velocity with Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) is a reliable method to gauge ventricular long axis function for quantification of myocardial contractility and relaxation. The aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of the importance of long axis function with respect to ageing, response to pharmacological treatment, prediction of survival, and enhanced load condition caused by warm water immersion. 3. 3. Transesophageal Echocardiography in Patients Undergoing Elective Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

    Författare :Ingrid Palmgren; Russell Anderson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology and intensive care; transesophageal echocardiography; low-dose dobutamine; viability; coronary artery bypass; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) has become a useful tool in monitoring the heart in patients during open-heart surgery. This study was undertaken to evaluate whether it is feasible to use TEE to assess left ventricular myocardial viability in anesthetized patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). 4. 4. Importance of cardiac reserve for evaluation and prediction of cardiac function and morbidity assessed by low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography

    Författare :Margareta Scharin Täng; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Stress echocardiography; Heart failure; Beta-1-adrenoceptor; Cardiac reserve;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to evaluate the cardiac reserves capacity to be used to predict treatment effects, sub clinical heart disease and to evaluate b1-adrenoceptor (AR) gene polymorphism (Ser49Gly). Studies were performed in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, in rats (young, healthy, diabetic and hypertensive), in mice (immunized against the ?1AR) and in heart-transplanted patients. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On-line vectorcardiography in ischemic heart disease

    Författare :Peter Lundin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Vectorcardiography; ischemia monitoring; coronary artery disease; exercise test; echocardiography; dobutamine; unstable angina pectoris; myocardial infarction; prognosis.;

    Sammanfattning : The clinical usefulness of continuous on-line vector cardiography (VCG) was assessed in 435 patients, admitted to the coronary care unit. The ability of 24-hour VCG monitoring to differentiate patients with or without ischemic heart disease (IHD), to provide long-term prognostic information and to predict results from a predischarge exercise test in patients with unstable angina pectoris or acute myocardial infarction (MI) was evaluated.
