  1. 16. Anaerobic digestion in the kraft pulp and paper industry : Challenges and possibilities for implementation

    Författare :Eva-Maria Ekstrand; Bo H Svensson; Annika Björn (Fredriksson); David Bastviken; Jukka Rintala; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pulp and paper; anaerobic digestion; fibre sludge; activated sludge; condensates; bleaching wastewater; wastewater treatment; methane; degradability; nutrient recirculation; Pappers- och massa; anaerob nedbrytning; fiberslam; aktivt slam; kondensat; vattenrening; metan; nedbrytbarhet; näringsåterföring;

    Sammanfattning : The pulp and paper industry is a large producer of wastewater and sludge, putting high pressure on waste treatment. In addition, more rigorous environmental legislation for pollution control and demands to increase the use of renewable energy have put further pressure on the pulp and paper industry’s waste treatment, where anaerobic digestion (AD) and the production of methane could pose a solution. 2. 17. Reactor Applications and Process Monitoring for Improved Anaerobic Digestion

    Författare :Tor Gunnar Jantsch; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pH-indicators; spectrophotometric; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; alkalinity; monitoring; UASB reactor; spent sulphite liquor; caustic extraction liquor; sulphite evaporator condensate; pulp wastewater; Anaerobic digestion; biogas;

    Sammanfattning : Biogas, a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide, is produced by microorganisms upon degradation of organic matter in an anaerobic environment. It has been realised that by utilising anaerobic processes the organic pollutants in wastewater and organic solid waste from anthropogenic sources can be converted into a renewable source of energy. 3. 18. Anaerobic Treatment of Agricultural Residues and Wastewater - Application of High-Rate Reactors

    Författare :Wilson Parawira; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biochemical technology; Biokemisk teknik; opaque beer brewery wastewater; UASB; two-stage; co-digestion; sugar beet leaves; solid potato waste; methane yield; biogas; Anaerobic digestion; agricultural residues;

    Sammanfattning : The production of methane via anaerobic digestion of agricultural residues and industrial wastewater would benefit society by providing a clean fuel from renewable feedstocks. This would reduce the use of fossil-fuel-derived energy and reduce environmental impact, including global warming and pollution. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Two-Stage Conversion of Land and Marine Biomass for Biogas and Biohydrogen Production

    Författare :Valentine Nkemka; Bioteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steam pretreatment; dry digestion; biogas; biohydrogen; Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus; cadmium; anaerobic digestion;

    Sammanfattning : The replacement of fossil fuels by renewable fuels such as biogas and biohydrogen will require efficient and economically competitive process technologies together with new kinds of biomass. A two-stage system for biogas production has several advantages over the widely used one-stage continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Lipases at interfaces

    Författare :Pedro Reis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrolysis.; fat; microenvironment; depletion; surfactant; interface; Lipase; modulation; digestion; synthesis;

    Sammanfattning : Lipases are acyl hydrolases that play a key role in fat digestion by cleaving long-chain triglycerides into polar lipids. Due to an opposite polarity between the enzyme (is hydrophilic) and their substrates (are lipophilic), the lipase reaction occurs at the interface between the aqueous and the oil phases. LÄS MER
