6. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches
Sammanfattning : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate. 7. Diffusion of energy-efficient technologies in EU residential buildings
Sammanfattning : Residential buildings constitute approximately 75% of the European building stock, accounting for around 30% of the EU´s overall energy demand and emissions. They also represent one of the biggest sources of energy saving potential, thus holding a crucial role in achieving EU carbon targets. LÄS MER
8. Design of Thermal Barrier Coatings : A modelling approach
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are commonly used for thermal protection of components in modern gas turbine application such as power generation, marine and aero engines. TBC is a duplex material system consisting of an insulating ceramic topcoat layer and an intermetallic bondcoat layer. LÄS MER
9. The Sink-Effect in Indoor Materials : Mathematical Modelling and Experimental Studies
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the sink-effect in indoor materials wasstudied using mathematical modelling and experimental studies. The sink-effect is a concept which is commonly used tocharacterise the ability of different indoor materials to sorbcontaminants present in the indoor air. The sorption process ismore or less reversible, i.e. LÄS MER
10. Structure-Performance Relations of Oxygen Barriers for Food Packaging
Sammanfattning : Food packaging should ensure the safety and quality of food, minimize spoilage and provide an easy way of storing and handling it. Barrier coatings are generally used to meet the demands placed on fibre-based food packages, as these have the ability to regulate the amount of gases that can enter them. LÄS MER
