    Sammanfattning : Through in-depth interviews, students’ experiences and perceptions of good teaching practice in literature and physics during one school year were investigated in eight upper secondary classes of the first, second and third years in Greece.     Sammanfattning : Language skills during the preschool years are important for cognitive and social development, learning, and well-being, especially for children that are less proficient in the language that peers and teachers use for communication and teaching, known as the majority language. The overall aim of this thesis is to explore the effect of a practice-embedded introduction of dialogic reading in preschool, a method that engages children in conversation, using language-promoting strategies.     Sammanfattning : Ett gemensamt meningsskapande i skolans naturvetenskapliga klassrum förutsätter en interaktion som i allt högre grad kommer att präglas av ett naturvetenskapligt språkbruk. Utvecklingen av ett naturvetenskapligt ämnesspråk innebär ofta en stor utmaning för flerspråkiga elever som lär sig naturvetenskap på sitt andraspråk och vars behov av stöttning därför är särskilt stort.     Sammanfattning : This thesis takes an interest in the literacy practices in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) classroom for grades 7-9 in a compulsory school, where most students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The diagnosis ASD often implies difficulties related to print literacy as well as deficits in social interaction (ICD5), and many of these students show a relatively low rate of passing grades in school.     Sammanfattning : In chemistry education, student learning difficulties involve connecting theory and phenomena to make sense of chemistry, as well as utilising and understanding the language of chemistry. In this thesis, I examine the relationships among student language use, previous achievement level, and sensemaking in chemistry, as well as how experienced teachers help students make sense of chemistry as part of dialogic interaction during practical work.
