  1. 1. On the Optimization of Schedules of a Multitask Production Cell

    Författare :Karin Thörnblad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mathematical optimization; flexible job shop scheduling; mixed integer linear programming MILP ; complexity analysis; mathematical modelling; production planning; multi-purpose machine; dispatching rule; priority function; total flowtime; total tardiness; release date; due date; due date;

    Sammanfattning : Volvo Aero has invested in a complex production cell containing a set of multipurpose machines. The problem of finding optimal schedules for this multitask cell is a complex combinatorial optimization problem which is recognized as a flexible job shop problem. This thesis proposes an approach to find such schedules using mathematical optimization. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evolutionary dynamics of migration and breeding in wild birds: genetic architecture, sexual conflicts and evolutionary constraints

    Författare :Maja Tarka; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantitative genetics; heritability; intralocus sexual conflict; antagonistic selection; QTL; G-matrix; wing length; arrival date; migration; geolocator; bird; Acrocephalus arundinaceus;

    Sammanfattning : Our knowledge of the evolutionary potential of traits involved in different selective episodes, especially in natural populations, is still limited. This is true for questions such as the genetic basis and inheritance of traits, how natural and sexual selection acts on them, and how selective conflicts influence the evolutionary response to selection. 3. 3. Nesting and migration in the introduced Canada goose in Sweden

    Författare :Göran Sjöberg; Catherine M. Lessells; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Species introductions; DNA fingerprinting; natal dispersal; breeding dispersal; bird migration; wintering areas; clutch size; laying date; body reserves; nest defence; waterfowl; Canada goose; Anatidae; Branta canadensis;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis was to document patterns in breeding and migration in Swedish Canada geese Branta canadensis, to explain these against the genetic and historical background of the population, and to test predictions of hypotheses pertaining to parental investment.The Canada goose population in Sweden was founded by the introduction of a few individuals in the 1930's. 4. 4. Costs, benefits and constraints in the evolution of avian reproductive tactics: a study on the blue tit

    Författare :Erik Svensson; Evolutionär ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reproductive timing; selection analysis; natural selection; mate quality; nestlings; sex ratio; DNA-content; flow cytometry; ELISA; BMR; energetics; immunocompetence; immune system; sexual conflict; nestling mortality; thermoregulation; moult; reproductive costs; reproductive effort; Parus caeruleus; blue tit; birds; juvenile survival; laying date; food supply; Animal ecology; Djurekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study I have investigated the various factors influencing reproductive tactics among breeding blue tits (Parus caeruleus). The study was carried out in a nestbox-breeding population of marked individuals at the Revinge Area, outside Lund, southern Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Apnea, small for date and autonomic imbalance : risk factors in relation to SIDS

    Författare :Ann Edner; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS ; Apparent Life Threatening Event ALTE ; Small for Gestational Age SGA ; Tilt test; Heart Rate Variability HR V ;

    Sammanfattning : SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is defined as an infant who has died suddenly and its cause "remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history". An infant who during sleep has been found apneic, pale or cyanotic and limp, and has required either vigorous stimulation or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is defined to have been affected of an Apparent Life Threatening Event (ALTE).
